The elderly wandered out by herself while Elly was cooking for the family. Her employer and Elly looked for the elderly for half a day before finding her in the police station. After this incident, her employer told her that she did not need to cook anymore and to constantly keep an eye on the elderly instead.
  • The elderly would wake up at night, could not sleep and ask to go outside in the middle of the night. She would have to inform her employer and her employer would pass her the sleep medications to give to the elderly. The elderly would then go back to sleep after taking the medication.

She assisted in Activities of Daily Living including showering, changing diapers (including at night), dressing, feeding, transferring from bed to wheelchair, turning & positioning (including at night).
• Shared a room with the elderly. Woke up 3 times at night to assist the elderly to go to the toilet (when he was still able to walk), changing diapers and turning and positioning (when he was wheelchair-bound).

• When she came back to care for him, the elderly was diagnosed with dementia:
• The elderly would forget to take his medication. Muntiani needed to prepare and serve him otherwise he would not remember to take it.

• The elderly would forget if he had showered and would keep wanting to shower. Muntiani would explain to the elderly that he had showered but he would get angry if he was not allowed to shower.

• *Her husband was also working in Taiwan. In 2020, she became pregnant with her husband’s child. She went back home when she was 6 months pregnant and subsequently to give birth. As the elderly and employer liked her a lot, they did not continue with their existing caregiver and choose to apply for her to come back to take care of the elderly after she had given birth. Muntiani shared that the existing caregiver who cared for the elderly when she was in Indonesia to give birth would quarrel with the elderly. They preferred Muntiani to care for him as she was patient in her care.
