• Cared for a wheelchair-bound 71-year-old man with stroke, diabetes, pneumonia and heart problem. The elderly weighed 70kg.
• Assisted to walk without walking stick for the first year with another helper, but elderly preferred to use wheelchair even at home.
• NGT feeding (since Nov 2023)
• Suctioning(oral) (since Nov 2023)
• Monitored blood glucose levels.
• Administered suppository (bullet) and performed manual evacuation.
• When the elderly was able to walk, Riana assisted with showering, dressing, toileting with commode (pass motion), changing diapers, walking and getting into and out of bed.
• When the elderly became wheelchair-bound, Riana assisted with showering, dressing, toileting with commode (sometimes like once a month when he could not pass motion), changing diapers (she was instructed by the employer to do it together with the other helper, however, when the other helper goes marketing, she would change diaper alone), feeding, transferring from bed to wheelchair and vice-versa and turning & positioning.
• Riana was instructed to do the showering of the elderly together with the elderly’s wife.
• Shared a room with the elderly. Woke up 2-3 times at night to assist the elderly to change diapers and cover him with blanket.
• During the first year, she would bring the elderly to go outside to walk and exercise.
• When the elderly started wheelchair-bound, she would bring the elderly to do physiotherapy at nearby clinic.
• Prepared and served medications.
• Accompanied for medical appointments with the elderly’s wife once every 3 or 6 months.
• Performed housework, grocery shopping (sometimes) and cooking (sometimes).
• In January 2024, the family hired an Indian helper. The elderly’s wife has instructed Riana that she would need to change diapers, dressing, and transfer bed to wheelchair together with the Indian helper. However, when Riana asked the Indian helper for help, sometimes the Indian helper would ignore her and not talk to her. Hence, Riana found it hard to work with the Indian helper and decided not to continue.

• Cared for an 89-year-old lady with Parkinsons disease, dementia, diabetes, and leg operation. The elderly weighed 60kg.
• Assisted in walking with a walking frame in the first year. The elderly refused to let Riana to hold on her and had a fall during showering, The elderly was hospitalised and undergone a leg operation. After that the elderly became wheelchair-bound.
• Administered suppository (bullet) and performed manual evacuation.
• Assisted in Activities of Daily Living including showering, sponging, toileting, changing diapers (including at night), dressing, feeding, walking, getting into and out of bed, transferring from bed to wheelchair and vice-versa, turning & positioning (including at night).
• Shared a room with the elderly. Woke up 2 to 3 times at night to assist the elderly to change diapers and turning and positioning.
• She would bring elderly to go outside with the elderly’s daughter.
• When the elderly started wheelchair-bound, she would bring the elderly to do physiotherapy at nearby clinic.
• Due to dementia,
  • The elderly would forget if she had eaten and ask to eat again. Riana would reassure elderly that she has eaten already.
  • The elderly would want to shower in the middle of the night. Riana would explain to her that it is night time.
  • The elderly would shout in the middle of the night, Riana would coax her to go back to sleep.
  • The elderly would have mood swings and spit at her. Riana would speak to her nicely to calm her down and tell her cannot be like this.
• Prepared and served medications.
• Accompanied for medical appointments with the elderly’s children.
• Performed housework and cooking.
• Elderly was sent to nursing home, the family did not require her anymore hence she finished contract and went back to Indonesia.

• Cared for a 90+-year-old man with dementia.
• Assisted in walking with a walking frame or walking stick. Used a wheelchair when going outside.
• Assisted in Activities of Daily Living including showering, toileting, changing diapers (including at night), dressing, feeding (in the final year – the elderly forgot how to chew and swallow and needed Ermawati’s guidance), walking, getting into and out of bed.
• Shared a room with the elderly. The elderly would not call her at night. Ermawati would hear sounds and wake up immediately to assist him. Woke up 3 – 4 times at night to assist the elderly to go toileting.
• Assisted in exercises (walking up and down in the living room).
• Due to dementia,
• The elderly would forget if she had eaten and ask to eat again. Ermawati would give him something small like bread or biscuit to eat.
• The elderly would forget if he had taken his medication and asked to take again. She would explain to him slowly that he had taken his medication already and he would be fine.
• The elderly would forget Ermawati and asked her who she was. He would think she was his granddaughter. Ermawati will explain that she was there to take care of him.
• Sometimes the elderly would refuse to shower, saying that he had already showered. She would need to talk to him slowly and coax him to shower. Sometimes the elderly would also refuse to change his diapers because he was shy and Ermawati would need to talk to him slowly and he would be fine.
• Served medications.
• Accompanied for medical appointments with her employer.
• Performed housework, grocery shopping and cooking.
• Finished contract and went home.

• The elderly would forget if she had taken her medications. Yuliana would tell her that she could not.
• The elderly would forget if she had eaten, she would give the elderly food again according to her employer's instructions.
• Sometimes the elderly would also forget the days. For example, on Sunday, she would want to go to her day care centre. Yuliana would explain to her that it was Sunday.
• The elderly would forget where she had put her money. She would say that Yuliana took her money.
• Prepared and served medications.
• Performed housework, grocery shopping and cooking.
• Cared for the elderly until she passed away and returned to Indonesia.

• The elderly would forget if she had taken her medication. Rohati would bring her outside to distract her.
• The elderly did not sleep well at night. She would wake up at night and talk to herself. Sometimes she would want to go outside. Rohati would bring her to watch TV.
